My Story …
As a lifelong creator, my journey unfolds at the intersection of design, interior aesthetics, and the soulful strokes of a self-taught black-American artist.
Each piece displayed here serves as a poignant chronicle of the past three years—a period marked by profound loss and profound discovery. The departure of my mother, my confidante and beacon, propelled me into a realm where expression became my sanctuary, a refuge amidst the tempest of grief.
Navigating diverse mediums—canvas, paper, wood, pastels, oils, and acrylics—revealed a tapestry of thematic unity. Within my work, one finds an unapologetic celebration of femininity, a kaleidoscope of beauty both fierce and tender, imagery as dynamic as it is resolute. These motifs, at once soft and bold, emerged organically, a tribute to the guiding spirit of my mother, her essence woven into the very fabric of my work.
Rooted in my design background, my aesthetic sensibilities are the compass guiding my creative voyage. Each stroke, each hue, is meticulously crafted to evoke not just visual delight, but a narrative that enriches and enlivens interior spaces. My aspiration is to provoke dialogue, to invite contemplation, for these pieces to transcend mere decor and become portals to deeper conversation.
Nestled in the sun-kissed haven of La Jolla, California, my studio hums with creative energy, accompanied by the loyal presence of my mixed Chihuahua, "Copper," and the unwavering support of my husband, Richard. Together, we craft not just art, but narratives—fragments of emotion and memory immortalized on canvas, destined to resonate far beyond the confines of the studio walls.
